Best TV Under $1000 in Australia

A $1000 budget goes a long way in a TV in 2026. You are comfortably into good 55 to 65-inch 4K territory, and when the sales land you can occasionally catch a much dearer set that has dropped into range.

That last point is the important one, and it is where this list beats a normal review article: the picks below are filtered on each TV's current lowest price, live. So a TV that normally sits at $1500 and drops to $980 in a sale appears here automatically while the deal is on, then drops back out when it ends. What you are seeing is always current.

How we rank these

This is a live list, not a hand-picked one, so it stays current as prices and stock move. Every TV here is genuinely under $1000 right now, and we only show one size per model line, so you get six different TVs to compare rather than the same set listed three times over.

The order is a weighted score across four things:

  • Review score and how many reviews - the star rating, weighted by the number of reviews behind it, so a solid 4.7 from hundreds of buyers beats a lone 5-star.
  • Screen size - within the budget, bigger generally wins, because most people want the most screen they can get for their money.
  • Panel type - better picture tech scores higher, so OLED ranks above Mini-LED and QLED, which rank above basic LED/LCD.
  • Brand - a small nudge for the makers with the stronger track record and local support.

Nobody pays to appear here and none of it is sponsored. It is just the score, recalculated every time the page loads.

What to expect at this price

Under $1000 you are mostly looking at LED/LCD and entry Mini-LED/QLED panels at 55 to 65 inches, from brands like Hisense, TCL, LG and Sony's entry range. You will get 4K, HDR and a smart platform. What you generally will not get at this price is the peak brightness and advanced local dimming of the premium sets, or OLED (which still starts above this budget at larger sizes).

Where the value is

The Australian value brands - Hisense and TCL - punch well above their price here, especially their Mini-LED lines, which deliver brightness and contrast that used to cost far more. If a name-brand set has dropped into this budget on sale, that is usually the pick, because you are getting a dearer TV at a value price.

A tip on timing

Because this list moves with sales, the smartest play is to set a price alert for a TV you like that is currently just above $1000. When it dips into range, you will know. Our best time to buy guide covers when those dips actually happen.
