How much do TVs actually cost in Australia? Our live index tracks the median price by panel type and size, month by month.
Every day we track the price of hundreds of TVs across Australia's major retailers. The TV Price Index rolls that up into one picture: the median price bracket by panel technology and screen size, month by month.
Pick a panel type with the tabs, and the three lines show small, mid-size and large sets. Toggle between the median (the typical price, and our default - it shrugs off the odd thirty-thousand-dollar flagship) and the mean (the straight average). The final point on each line is the current month so far, refreshed daily; a month locks once it closes.
We began tracking in mid-2026, so the history is still young and gets richer every month.
As of September 2026, the median price across the 269 TVs we are tracking is $1,895. A large OLED runs about $6,177, a mid-size QLED around $865, and a small LED near $348. These update daily as prices move.
The final point is where prices sit right now - each tracked set's latest price across the whole catalogue, refreshed daily. Earlier points are that month's median once it closed. Hover any point for the figure and how many models it is based on.

Across every TV we tracked in August 2026, the median price sat at $1,868, down 1.1% on the month before. A large (70 inch and up) OLED had a median of $6,629 across the 12 models we compared. A mid-size (48-65 inch) QLED had a median of $877 across the 20 models we compared. A large (70 inch and up) Mini-LED had a median of $3,173 across the 65 models we compared.

Across every TV we tracked in July 2026, the median price sat at $1,889, about level on the month before. A large (70 inch and up) OLED had a median of $5,907 across the 18 models we compared. A mid-size (48-65 inch) QLED had a median of $922 across the 18 models we compared. A large (70 inch and up) Mini-LED had a median of $3,542 across the 68 models we compared.
Our methodology
The index is built entirely from the prices we track ourselves - no estimates or outside data. Every day we record the cheapest in-stock price for hundreds of TVs across Australia's major retailers, and this page rolls those numbers up.
- What each figure is. For a given panel type and size, we take every model we track and use the median - the middle price. Median rather than average, so a single thirty-thousand-dollar flagship can't drag the number up. Switch to the straight average any time with the Mean toggle.
- Panel types. OLED, QLED, Mini-LED, Micro RGB and LED, by each set's panel technology. Samsung's Micro RGB is a premium Mini-LED variant, which is why it only shows at larger sizes.
- Size groups. Small is up to 43 inches, mid is 48 to 65 inches, and large is 70 inches and up.
- How a month is worked out. Each set's price for a month is the median of its own daily tracked prices that month; the figure you see is then the median across every set in that group. A month locks once it has finished.
- The live point. The final point on each line is not a finished month - it is where prices sit right now, using each tracked set's most recent price across the whole catalogue, refreshed daily.
- Independent by design. Every figure comes purely from prices we observe at the retailers - no one pays to be included or to move a number, and the index is not influenced by any advertising or affiliate arrangements elsewhere on the site.
- Keeping the data clean. We only count sets we can confidently classify by size and panel type, and prices that have gone stale - where a set has dropped out of a retailer's feed - are left out. Because we use the median, a single mistaken price cannot skew a line, and a separate daily integrity check flags any mismatched or wrong-model listing.
- A young dataset. We only began tracking in mid-2026, so there are just a few months so far and the picture sharpens every month. Smaller groups, where we track only a handful of models, can jump around a little - hover any point to see how many models it is based on.
