Cheapest 65-inch TVs right now

The premium 65 used to carry over 55 has mostly closed as production scaled up. Plenty of buyers now size up as the default rather than treating 65 as the big-ticket option, which makes it the mainstream large size rather than a splurge.

The step makes most sense once your seating sits past about 3 metres from the screen, or in an open-plan room where the TV has to compete with more ambient light and a longer sightline. Where it gets trickier is that a bigger panel at a similar price to a smaller one often means something was trimmed to get there - fewer local dimming zones, a lower peak brightness, weaker processing. Size alone doesn't tell you which of those you're getting.

Check brightness and dimming behaviour before assuming a 65 automatically beats a 55 from the same range. It's the right call for medium to large lounges, but the panel underneath still does the work.
